Deep Why works with all areas of the emergency food network, from regional Food Banks to transportation and logistics agencies down to the smallest church pantry. We have worked with clients like the Greater Boston Food Bank, Beverly Bootstraps, and Food for Free to implement a range of solutions that help ensure food is reaching those in need.
Our flagship project is Your Market, a collaborative solution that provides full inventory management, visit tracking, scheduling, delivery routing, and online preferences and orders for agencies of any size or capacity.
Food Security
2020 Venture Fund recipient Mystic Valley YMCA has partnered with Deep Why Design to rethink how we use technology in the emergency food sector.
The Your Market initiative is a shared data system that helps us understand the true scope of hunger in Eastern Massachusetts by helping manage de-duplicated data across many agencies.
Partner agencies use Your Market to track visits, inventory, and deliveries. Shoppers are offered extensive choice and personalized preferences along with a barcode / keytag that removes the need for duplicated registration at any partner agency.
Bringing together all of these elements lets us focus on improving the shopper experience by minimizing the repetitive questions required by most food pantries and offering a more shopper-focused, preference-driven experience at each participating market. At the same time, we gather data that aids in inventory choices and area needs analysis.
Your Market: Shopper choice. Improved data. Big wins.

Mystic Valley YMCA
The Mystic Valley YMCA is the fiscal sponsor of the Your Market project. They are a key partner in ensuring the solution remains in the public trust, is designed with shopper dignity and ease of use at the forefront, and acting as a community champion to ensure the needs of other agencies are being met with every solution we design.
Your Market makes extensive use of Framework to provide friendly, easy-to-use screens in an Experience Cloud environment. This solution allows for rapid onboarding of volunteers, easy guest check-in, inventory management and much more. You can learn more at the project’s YouTube channel.

Food for Free
Food for Free uses Salesforce with a custom user interface for their drivers to help manage their food rescue initiatives.
Food for Free partnered with the Your Market initiative to expand the software’s capabilities into gleaning, rescue and transportation partnerships.
Food for Free uses Your Market and the data warehousing solution that formats and pushes data into their own local Salesforce to enable complex reporting. -
Feed to Heal
Feed to Heal provides connective tissue between electronic medical records systems and food pantries. They receive secure electronic referrals directly from systems like Epic into their Salesforce instance, then automatically assign the referral to a partner agency.
We use Skyvia to transfer data securely between Feed To Heal and its source and destination systems, allowing rapid and easy-to-implement integrations that are affordable to maintain over time.
